Allepey beach was certainly a peasant surprise.beautiful pristine beach, huge parking lot, camel rides and also an old 137 year old pier boasting of the spice trade route many years back which gave allepey/alappuzha the name of “venice of the east”
Allepey is a place worth exploring so personal tip will be to stay put at a good hotel/resort and take a day trip on the backwaters. any night stay on a decent houseboat will range from rs8000-13000 and above and the actual time you sail is just 3-4 hrs. rest of the time between 12 noon till next morning 9 am you are anchored, and being anchored on a houseboat is not much fun.
The area is probably the only place in the continent where farming is done below sea level, using a system of dykes and bunds.
Allappuzha (Known as Alleppey). It’s a town with picturesque canals, backwater, beaches and lagoons. It’s also described as the one of the places known as “Venice of the east” by lord Curzon.
